style tip: shelf art

One of the easiest ways to accessorize a shelf or bookshelves, is to add art, framed or not.  I collect postcards from museum of prints from my favorite artists.  Other options could be note cards, greeting cards, pages from calenders, and Etsy; Etsy has sooooo many fantastic small options.  Framed art is definitely more structured, unframed art is more casual, both are fabulous.
Another great way to add "color" and visual impact is colored paper.  Paper should obviously be framed, with or without a mat.
When using a mat, anything goes.  Jo-Anns offers mat remnants for super cheap, in an amazing assortment of color.

not SQUEAL(ishly good)

After a weekend of blowing snow and dreary grey sky's, we were blessed with a phenomenally sunny Colorado day yesterday...today, we are back to blowing snow and dreary grey sky's, complete yuck. I couldn't shake the blah's. I perused many a magazine for something squeal worthy to wake up my sad, style craving brain, but to no avail. Maybe yoga will help!

As I am posting this vibrant, warm, slightly exotic style board it is gray, cold and dumping a lot of snow outside!  This master suite inspired by Lela Rose Spring RTW would be a fabulous retreat to escape the elements of winter.  Tropical colors, sophisticated black, fun and playful patterns, exquisite furnishings...one may never want to leave.

interior goodness: "modern. bright. crisp. wonderfully light, clean, and lively."

The home of Aaron Hom is just that.  Plenty of clean, crisp white, balanced by the warmth of wood and lively indeed!

The gorgeous bouquet of peonies would be fabulous on their own, but the collection of objects make for a fantastic vignette.

As an interior stylist, I find the toughest part of a project is the accessorizing.  Sure I can go find plenty of chotskies, but accessories, like art, are so personal, a true reflection of the home dweller. The dresser above along with these bookshelves are accessorized so squealingly awesome!

the simple joys of...

date night. My beau and I hit the town last night for a delightful dinner at Z Cuisine & A Cote; Mussels, French Onion Soup and a delicious Pot of Cream (literal translation). I channelled the 50's wearing my fave leopard skinnies, furry leather and chiffon trimmed T, black pumps, vintage jewels, the necklace was my Nanna's, and a 50 watt smile thanks to a. squealishly fab evening with my squeeze.

Vivienne Westwood Red Inspired Great Room

This look from the Vivenne Westwood Red F/W RTW collection is fantastic!  It is pretty, cool and relaxed...the perfect mix for a great room.  Being that I am a fan of the 50's-60's, I prefer my telly in a box, walls are meant for art, but trying to find a stylish cabinet to fit even an average size t.v. is a not an easy fete.  Luckily there plenty of shelving options that work splendidly with a simple yet stylish media cabinet.
