color stories: part 1, red

Red is...passion, danger, excitement, drama, power, heat, love, is something different from person to person.  Diana Vreeland had a red room, Christian Louboutin shoes have a signature red sole, and the red stripes on our American flag stand for courage.

I like red.  It is not my favorite color.  Or is it?  I adore coral, melon, and salmon which in fact are members of the red family.  I have very little red in my home, but the pop of red I do have is small, but sexy; Georgia O'Keeffe "At The Rodeo".

I put together below, a few "pops" of red to add to a home.  From modern to beachy, fun to fabulous; a little goes a long way.

Two of my favorite color stories:
White, Black, Red, and Turquoise
White, Navy, Green and Coral.

FIIIII-NA-LLLLLY!  The final Style Board for the Pantone Color of the Year 2016 Series is a bit late due to my newbie status with Photoshop, I am still learning its nuances.  While this room is not exactly to my standards, I need to move on to a new Style Board.  I promise, over time, I will conquer Photoshop and provide you with FABULOUS STYLE BOARDS!

fit food: super tasty Asian vinaigrette

I came up with this super tasty vinaigrette to add to my Big Ass Salad repertoire.  Not only is it a great salad accessory, but it can also be used for a stir fry sauce, spring roll dip, or marinade.  I have used it for two salads; one with grilled salmon and one with grilled tuna.  I have also tossed sliced sweet peppers with it for a quick n' easy appetizer.

1 Small clove of garlic
1 Small piece, about 1" of ginger
2 T rice wine vinegar (I've been using the mango one)
1 T soy sauce
2 T extra virgin olive oil or grapeseed oil
1 T chopped cilantro

Grate garlic and ginger into a small bowl.  Add vinegar and soy, whisk together.  Slowly whisk in oil.  Add cilantro.
